About Instructor
Alimah Sakina Syeda was born in Dubai, UAE, and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She started her studies at the Institute of Islamic Education (IIE) in Elgin, IL, in 2002 and completed the Alimah program in 2009. Under the guidance of esteemed teachers, Alimah Sakina earned degrees (ijazah) in various Islamic sciences, including tafsir, hadith, and fiqh.
In addition to her religious studies, she earned her undergraduate degree in English Secondary Education at Northeastern Illinois University, graduating summa cum laude. She is endorsed to teach middle school Language Arts and Social Studies and currently works in the Chicago Public Schools district office in the department of Student Assessment and MTSS. Alimah Sakina also holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and a principal certificate.
Apart from her role as a District MTSS Specialist, she enjoys teaching various Islamic in-person and online classes and regularly conducts halaqas throughout the Chicagoland area. She lives on the north side of Chicago with her husband and three children.
